How your email is used
This site belongs to me, Sanjeev Sharma. Here is everything it keeps about you, in plain words.
If you only read
Nothing that identifies you. There are no advertising scripts and no tracking cookies. Visits are counted two ways:
- Ahrefs Web Analytics (ahrefs.com) counts page visits and where they came from. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t ask me who you are.
- The site itself keeps a code made from your internet address that changes every day, so it can tell one visit from two on the same day and nothing more. These counts are kept for 13 months, then rolled up into daily totals.
- When you tap a button to Amazon, the site checks which country your internet address belongs to, so Amazon opens in your own country’s store. That check happens in memory and nothing is saved. Country data: [IP Geolocation by DB-IP](https://db-ip.com), licensed CC BY 4.0.
If you give me your email
I keep your address, the date and the page you signed up from, and the exact sentence you agreed to under the button. That record is how I can show you asked to hear from me.
Lantern Letters are sent through Kit (kit.com), which stores your address to deliver them. I never sell or share it with anyone else.
You'll get five short letters over your first two weeks, then one every other week. Every letter has a one-click way to leave. If you leave, the letters stop at once; I keep the record of your original sign-up for three years as proof of consent, then delete it.
If you claim an early copy
I keep which book, the copy number, when you downloaded it, and whether you said you know me personally (so I never ask friends or family for reviews, which Amazon doesn't allow). Your address is printed in shortened form on the book's copyright page and in full inside the file's details, so a copy that turns up online can be traced. These records are kept for a year after the early copies close.
If you write to me
The contact form keeps your name (if you give it), your email, and your message, so I can reply and find our conversation later. Messages are deleted after a year. Writing to me never adds you to Lantern Letters.
Your rights
Write to [letters@speedsharma.com](mailto:letters@speedsharma.com) and I will tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete all of it, within 30 days and usually much sooner. I'm the person responsible for this data and the person you can complain to.
