Reading order
The Keystone Cycle books in order
A city that runs on heroes, and the one man who keeps it standing.
Where to start
Load Bearing is Book One, and the only one out so far. It opens on Awakening Day in the city of Vantage, when a sixteen-year-old is given the class everyone laughs at.
What kind of book it is
Cozy progression fantasy: a weak start, a System that measures everything, and growth that comes from work and stubbornness rather than a body count. If you like the climb more than the battles, this is for you.
